Josef Franz Maria Hoffmann was an Austrian architect and designer whose work was important in the early development of modern Architecture in Europe. He possessed an unmistakable minimal style and was was among the founders of Vienna Secession and co-establisher of the Wiener Werkstätte, a productive cooperative of artisans in Vienna, Austria in the early 1900’s. His most famous architectural work is the Palais Stoclet, in Brussels, a pioneering work of Modern Architecture, Art Deco and peak of Vienna Secession architecture.
